We give thanks to God for recent volunteer efforts in Torreón. During the last week of July, eight Spanish students from Wisconsin Lutheran High School and two adults came to help spread the Good News.
During the week the students teamed up with the youths of Jesús Pan de Vida (Jesus Bread of Life). They carried out ethnographic interviews and handed out flyers.
On Saturday, the students participated in an event at a new mission in Torreón, Divina Gracia (Divine Grace). Using different colors, they presented the filth of sin, Jesus' blood, the holiness we now have, and heaven. Seventy children, twelve adults and even three dogs from the community came to learn about Jesus.
Students were able to get a taste of Mexican culture through foods, including menudo (cow intestine soup). They also went to Puente de Ojuela, an old ghost town and silver mine with Mexico's longest suspension bridge.
Missionary Mike Hartman and Vicar Joel Sutton are now visiting families that the group met through their interview work that want to learn more about God's Word. What a blessing! Join us in giving thanks to God for the volunteer group.
