On Friday and Saturday of this week, more than 240 new students registered for English classes. The classes will be offered in the basement of El Redentor (Redeemer) church in Torreon.
During 2007, two WELS Kingdom Workers taught English classes in Pachuca, a city in central Mexico. Their efforts helped start up a new mission congregation there.
This year, the program has moved north to Torreon. Its current purpose is to help outreach efforts at Redeemer. This congregation has approximately 80 members. For many years, members ran a kindergarten program in the basement. That program has ended, and the congregation is looking for a new way to reach out to others.
It's our prayer that English classes do just that. With contacts already in place, the opportunity is exciting. Classes begin next week. Check back for regular updates on the English program and activities.
