Like many parents with small children, we often take Trinity to parks around Torreón. In the pic above, she's getting ready to go down a slide at the Bosque, one of the bigger rec areas in town.
In some ways, the Bosque has play equipment you'd expect to see at a park: slides, swings, seesaws, and so on. Much of it, however, is well worn and sometimes damaged. In the picture above, for instance, Mike has just helped Trinity avoid the top part of the slide, which was completely torn up. Other slides often have big dropoffs or cracks.
This means that we're extra cautious about where Trinity plays. We always thoroughly examine the equipment before she tries it out. While the less-than-ideal playground gear may worry me, it doesn't bother Trinity. She almost always has a great time, and only cries when it's time to leave ;).
Experiencing this has shown me that kids tend to accept things for how they are. The playgrounds here may have rustic equipment, but Trinity still knows how to have fun.
