Technology that makes Traveling Easier

Yesterday we headed home after spending some time with our families in Texas. We first flew from Houston to Dallas, and then had a 5-hour layover in the Dallas/Fort Worth airport. Needless to say, Mike and I weren't sure how our time there would go, since we knew the girls would be exhausted from the vacation, and we weren't feeling too energetic ourselves.

Fortunately, the layover went smoothly. Mike took the girls on an extended tour of the airport, and then we turned to technology to help us get through the remaining time -

Here the girls are watching a movie on our portable dvd player. Mike's at work on his phone, and I tapped into our netbook, which is pictured on the seat to the right of Noelle.

A few other things that helped: we found a quiet, cozy corner for our family to hang out in, complete with leg rests on the chairs (you can see them in above photo).

And a treat that always helps when traveling - Starbucks!

During our layover, I realized I had been in the exact same airport 11 years ago, when I flew to Mexico City to teach English for a year. That night, shortly after I arrived in Mexico City, I met Mike at a hole-in-the-wall taco place (still one of our favorite taco joints in Mexico).

With that in mind, when supper time rolled around in Dallas, Mike and I took the girls out for tacos (oh, and I was also craving tacos - baby number three is obviously a Mexican at heart).

Here's Noelle digging in -

And what I used to add a little flavor to my tacos -

Today we're home, happy to be back and settling into life here. And getting ready to plan some more trips!
